Earth Day Alert: Demand Real Climate Legislation Now

Dear Carpoolers, 

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first Earth Day, when more than 20 million Americans flooded the streets to demand environmental action from our leaders in Washington. 

Now 40 years later, as climate change presents the most serious and difficult environmental crisis we have ever faced, we need action and accountability from Washington more than ever. 

That’s why on April 25th, Americans from all walks of life will gather for a massive climate rally on the National Mall in Washington, DC to demand that Congress pass comprehensive climate and clean energy legislation. 

We need to stop perpetuating a system that increases our reliance on foreign oil, drives job loss and threatens the well-being of future generations. Instead we need to take this opportunity to address the threats we face by rebuilding our economy, putting world back to work, and securing our future through a new clean energy economy. 

Our leaders’ failure to confront climate change is unacceptable. Together we can make Earth Day 2010 a pivotal moment in the fight to confront climate change and secure our future.
